The Company

Our Client, TopUp TV, delivers over 40 Freeview channels plus all the benefits of tape-free recording with the added extra of being able to pause and rewind live TV. The Top Up TV Freeview+ box is different from one of the standard Freeview+ boxes as you can choose to add any (or all) of their viewing packs. Whether it’s TV Favourites, sport or films you’re into, they’ve got it covered. You can also choose to access a library where you’ll find hundreds of top shows and series, plus movies too, which are constantly updated. There’s a great choice with everything from comedy to factual, drama to kids. TopUp TV deliver shows straight to the box (normally while subscribers are asleep) so they can choose to watch them any time.

The Brief

We were engaged by the CEO and CTO of this exciting and growing business, with a brief to review and improve their service development processes and infrastructure, along with internal reporting.

What we Did

Enabled improvements in technology development and project management, so improving service-quality and time-to-market. All aspects of our deliverables were tailored around the client’s unique business, culture and third-party relationships.

• Introduced Project Management processes to improve momentum & highlight issues early
• Resolved communication and process issues with external suppliers
• Introduced Product Management to match the size and growth stage of the business
• Deployed new software development tools and processes, shared across partner technology suppliers
• Created and deployed a customer-facing website to manage Beta testing and results
• Created and deployed a branded online forum for users of the service

A related project emerged while working on the first assignment, leveraging our telecoms expertise. We were delighted to also be able to add more even more value to our working relationship by improving telecom and IT performance, while reducing costs for our client.

• Optmized performance & reduced costs across the IT and telecoms infrastructure
• Designed and delivered a new multi-site, MPLS Ethernet network, substantially reducing long terms costs while adding flexibility
• Delivered very substantial savings by migrating the technically complex consumer website to a dedicated cloud hosting solution, while increasing scalability
